About Scott:
Scott is an experienced corporate lawyer who is recommended by The Legal 500 for his work in Venture Capital and Corporate transactions. He specialises in particular in venture capital / private equity transactions, having worked with a wide range of both scaling businesses and national and international VC / PE funds.
Having advised on both investor and investee sides for many years, and in relation to investment rounds ranging from early-stage seed funding to significant Series B+ rounds, Scott is well placed to advise on any equity funding requirements. He is adapt at working closely with investor and founder teams, including support of those who may have little to no experience of investment.
Scott also has significant experience advising on exits and acquisitions of private companies in a range of sectors; having worked for buyer and seller sides on a number of deals with substantial valuations.
He also advises on general corporate issues including share buy-backs, group reorganisations, company constitutions and capital reductions.
Experience:
- Acting for clean-tech and renewables business Wase Limited to support the company’s £8.5 million of funding.
- Advising market leading investors BGF and Parkwalk on a number of co-investments into scaling businesses, including health-tech scale-up as part of an $20 million funding round.
- Advising space-tech and thermal data specialists Global Satellite Vu Ltd on raising and completing their oversubscribed £15 million + Series A investment round.
- Acting for the majority shareholders of leading homeware brand Loaf on the sale of the company to a private buyer for a significant sum.
- Advising a substantial therapeutics business developing novel antibody therapies for cancer treatment on their $47 million Series A investment round.
- Advising VC fund Volution on a range of investments including as part of a £3 million Series A round into Rotageek, an award-winning employee scheduling solution for retail, entertainment, hospitality and healthcare organisations.
- Acting for Augmentum Fintech, SBI Investment and Volution on their investments into category-leading digital mortgage broker Habito.
- Supporting UK-based healthcare innovation company and exciting scale-up Earswitch on their receipt of £1.2 million of funding led by Praetura Ventures.
- Advising battery-tech experts Anaphite Limited on their £4.1 million pre-Series A investment round, involving a number of VC funds and angel investors.
- Participating in judging panels for various scale-up and tech industry awards, including the Tech South West Awards and the Bristol University Runway Awards.
- Regularly contributing to workshops and presentations hosted by business incubators and scale-up programmes, including SETsquared (Bristol and Bath), Future Space, Bristol University, Farm 491 and Tech South West, alongside providing “lawyer in residence” sessions to member businesses.
