Press statement: Supplemental judgment in Christine Reaney v University Hospital of North Staffordshire NHS Trust & Mid Staffordshire Hospitals Foundation NHS Trust
Further to the handing down of judgment in the matter of Christine Reaney v University Hospital of North Staffordshire NHS Trust & Mid Staffordshire Hospitals Foundation NHS Trust on Friday 19 September 2014 in the Claimant’s favour, a supplemental judgment has now been handed down, setting out the figures to be awarded to Mrs Reaney under the various heads of damage.
Yolande Wase, associate solicitor at Withy King, Oxford acted for Mrs Reaney throughout the case.
Yolande says, “The compensation was awarded after Mr Justice Foskett heard evidence from medical experts in the Royal Courts of Justice in London and reflects the Claimant’s significant level of injury and need arising from the Defendants’ negligence. The compensation will be used to fund appropriate equipment and care to afford Mrs Reaney some quality of life in the years ahead. The monies will be held in a Trust fund, managed by a Trustee and applied directly to meet my client’s significant future care and other requirements.”
It is hoped that Mrs Reaney’s and her family’s privacy will be respected by the media now and in the future. Mrs Reaney will not give any interviews.
Please note that sanction will be sought against any organisation or individual seeking to door step Mrs Reaney or approach any member of her family.
