RWK Goodman brings Soho legend Darjeeling Express back to Kingley Court
Legendary chef and restauranteur Asma Khan has secured the return of her award-winning and influential restaurant Darjeeling Express to Kingley Court in the heart of London’s West End.
It is a move that has been made possible by our real estate lawyers who helped Khan secure her first restaurant location in Kingley Court in 2017 and subsequent move in 2020 to Covent Garden.
The new restaurant will include a much larger kitchen to allow the chef-restaurateur to employ and train a greater number of female staff into senior leadership roles in the restaurant industry. The restaurant is expected to open in December 2022.
Khan’s commitment to training and development of female staff has won her plaudits around the world, including the first British chef to be profiled on the influential Emmy-nominated Netflix Chef’s Table documentary.
Our team was led by Partner Bharat Nahar and Solicitor Josh Craig.
Asma Khan said in an Instagram post: “Signed, Sealed & Delivered – the incredible duo Bharat & Josh of RWK Goodman worked tirelessly to get the lease done – also grateful to the landlord's legal team who tried to get things done quickly.”
Bharat Nahar adds: “Asma is a true inspiration. She has not only built a phenomenal and respected restaurant, Darjeeling Express, she is using it to train and support female staff into senior leadership roles in the restaurant industry. Her move back to where it all started at Kingley Court is an exciting and fitting start to her continued success.”
Kingley Court is owned and managed by Shaftsbury PLC which was advised by Hogan Lovells.
