Posted in Real Estate

Stephen Jefferson joins RWK Goodman as a Partner specialising in planning within the Real Estate team, strengthening the firm's expertise in renewable energy and residential development.

Prior to joining RWK Goodman, Stephen spent five years at Eversheds Sutherland, working in their Cardiff office as part of the planning and infrastructure consenting team. He previously trained and qualified at Ashfords LLP, gaining extensive experience in planning agreements, environmental impact assessments, habitat regulations, highways, compulsory purchase, CIL, and planning due diligence.

Stephen advises on planning applications, appeals, and legal challenges, and has a deep understanding of the legal and technical aspects of the consenting process. His recent work includes successful promotions of large-scale onshore wind and solar projects, and extensive advising on the new biodiversity net gain regime, including land acquisition strategy and drafting relevant section 106 agreements.

Stephen’s practice areas cover planning, with particular specialties in renewable energy, water and utilities sectors, and residential development. He is keen to attract work in energy and infrastructure, particularly onshore wind and solar, as well as residential and commercial development.

Stephen Jefferson comments:

“This is an exciting time to be joining RWK Goodman and I am delighted to be here. I look forward to collaborating with colleagues and playing my part in building upon the firm’s planning offering, continuing to provide clients with a first-rate service.

“It is hugely satisfying to develop trusted relationships, working with clients to navigate the increasingly complex framework of planning legislation and policy. Whether it’s housing, renewable energy or other forms of infrastructure, it’s great to see projects through from inception to completion, contributing to the delivery of much needed and vital forms of development.”

Commenting on the appointment, Richard Roth, South West sector lead for Real Estate at RWK Goodman, said:

“We are thrilled to welcome Stephen Jefferson to our Planning team. His extensive expertise in renewable energy and residential development will be invaluable as we continue to expand our services in these areas. Stephen’s dedication to providing exceptional client service and his ability to navigate complex planning issues align perfectly with our firm’s values. We look forward to the significant contributions he will make to our team and our clients.”
