Tobacco Dock set for 10 year growth plans
The Real Estate team at RWK Goodman has worked closely with the leaseholders at London’s massive Tobacco Dock complex, to successfully negotiate a new ten-year lease of the iconic building.
The complex, recently converted into an events and convention centre and occupying over 140,000 square feet, was built in the early 19th century as a bonded warehouse, and is situated in Wapping, just East of Tower Bridge in the heart of London’s enterprise zone.
RWK Goodman acted on behalf of the leaseholders, Tobacco Dock Venue Limited (TDVL), which operates its thriving exhibition and events business out of Tobacco Dock along with The Dock co-working space and recently introduced Skylight, London’s largest roof-top bar.
This new, long term commitment will allow TDVL to further extend its facilities and to undertake an extensive programme of building enhancements as well as opening up new attractions at the East London landmark location.
Richard Roth, a partner in the Real Estate team at RWK Goodman who has advised TDVL since it took its first lease at Tobacco Dock five years ago, said: “We are delighted to have helped TDVL take a new longer term lease at Tobacco Dock and enter the next phase of its exciting project at this iconic building. Managing Director Patrick Donovan and his team have built up an amazing business at Tobacco Dock and the hospitality, high tech and creative enterprises that occupy it are going from strength to strength. Tobacco Dock is proving to be a real success story – we are thrilled to have played a small part in that and look forward to seeing what the next ten years will bring.”
Patrick Donovan, Managing Director of TDVL, said: “It’s been great to work with Richard and the team at RWK Goodman. He combines long-term knowledge of the sector with a strong empathy for our commercial objectives.”
