About David
David is a Partner in our Corporate Team based in our London office.
David has more than two decades’ experience advising clients on a range of corporate transactional matters, including cross-border and domestic disposals and acquisitions, joint ventures and fundraisings. He has particular expertise in private equity transactions and has acted for emerging growth and expanding businesses, funds, family offices, entrepreneurs and management teams across various sectors.
David graduated from Glasgow University in 1997 with a first class degree in Law and from Oxford University in 1999 with a BCL (Bachelor of Civil Law) degree. Having qualified as a solicitor in Scotland in 2001, he has continued his career in London at leading international law firms before joining RWK Goodman in January 2025.
David has been listed in many of the leading legal directories for his work in M&A and private equity, including The Best Lawyers in the United Kingdom (2021-to date) for M&A, in IFLR (2018-to date) as a ‘notable practitioner’ for Private Equity & M&A UK; and as Deal Maker of the Year 2023 (Finance Monthly) for acting for Rockpool Investments on its investment in Rosetta
Brands.
Experience:
- Rockpool Investments on various transactions, including the sale of Hartley Botanic, a luxury greenhouse manufacturer, to Alcuin Capital Partners; its investment in Rosetta Brands, an Amazon e-commerce-as-a-service provider; its investment in Oxford Online Pharmacy and the sale of Alchemist, a learning and development business, to Horizon Capital.
- Bregal Capital on several transactions, including the acquisition of Ideal Stelrad, the UK based manufacturer of boilers and radiators and the acquisition and subsequent reorganization of the FiveTen Group.
- Datamation Systems, Inc. on its acquisition of Parotec Solutions Ltd, a manufacturer of case and foam solutions.
- Founders and owners of Continental Bottle Company, Ltd, a leading glass packaging provider, on its sale to TricorBraun, the global packaging leader.
- Founder shareholders of the Hastings Insurance Group on the sale of a 50% interest to Goldman Sachs Merchant Banking Division and on their involvement in the subsequent Hastings IPO.
- IMImobile, a global cloud communications software and solutions provider, on its acquisition of 3CInteractive Corp.
- Kraft Foods on the sale of its salted snacks businesses in several European jurisdictions to Herkules Capital.
- Investors in Peel Hunt LLP in connection with a corporate reorganization.
- Shareholders in Spaces4Work Ltd on its sale to private equity firm, Paloma Capital.
- Sony Pictures Entertainment on the sale of its investment in Shine, the UK based TV production company, to News Corporation.
- Trustpoint.One, a US-based legal solutions provider, on its acquisitions of UK based interpreting company Enable2 Translate and translation agency Balthasar Ltd.
